8月26日在一些华文媒体以及广播中，自由党发起竞选广告反击，主题是“谎言伤害我们的社区”，用以回应保守党在中文媒体中传播的虚假信息。
此竞选广告主要侧重以下三个主要问题：
* 保守党声称自由党削减医疗拨款，事实上自由党政府已将拨款增加，从2012年至2013年的476亿拨款额增加到2016年至2017年度的518亿拨款；
* 保守党声称自由党不支持士嘉堡地铁延长线，事实上2013年起，政府已经保证148,000万拨款用于以上项目，且从未取消此项计划；
* 最后，自由党指责保守党在安省更新的性教育课程采取两面说话的伎俩，保守党经常在私下和少数族裔媒体上反对性教育，却在主流媒体中表示支持。
安省自由党士嘉堡红河选区省议员候选人田锐（Piragal Thiru）表示，作为士嘉堡红河选区的候选人，我本应该讨论更多选区关注的问题，而非纠正来自保守党的谎言，我更倾向于以正面的态度看待问题，我也很高兴看到华裔自由党人反击保守党竞选团队的谎言和误导信息，误导不仅分散民众对实质问题的注意力，也贬低我们的民主政治。
Chinese Liberals Launch Ad Campaign
TORONTO—Today, Chinese Liberals are voicing their frustration through a new ad campaign. The campaign, “Lies Hurt Our Community” is being launched to fight back against Conservative’s false claims in the Chinese media.
The advertisements focus on three main issues:
* Conservatives claim Liberals have cut healthcare, which this Liberal government has increased from $47.6 billion in 2012-13 to a total of $51.8 billion in 2016-17.
* Conservatives claim the Liberals do no support the Scarborough subway extension, whereas in 2013 the government committed $1.48B for the project and has never wavered.
* And finally, Liberals are calling out Conservatives on their double-talk regarding the updated health and physical education curriculum. Conservatives have routinely decried sex-ed behind closed doors and through multicultural outlets, while supporting it in the mainstream media.
“As a candidate in this by-election in Scarborough-Rouge River, I should be talking about our vision for this riding, rather than correcting the lies coming from the Conservatives,” said Liberal candidate, Piragal Thiru. “I prefer to keep things positive, but I am glad that Chinese Liberals are taking a stand against conservative deception. It distracts people from real issues and devalues our politics.”
