Liberal MP John McKay Visits Kitchener Waterloo Region

Liberal MP John McKay traveled to Kitchener WaterlooRegion today to highlight the Conservative Government’s policy of fear and division. In remarks delivered to crowds at both the Huether Hotel and DH Food and Lodging, Mr. McKay spoke of the need for a positive and unifying vision for Canada.

“Canadians know that the success of our country is rooted in our shared values of diversity and inclusiveness,” said Mr. McKay. “Under Stephen Harper’s leadership, Canadians have come to expect personal attacks and fear tactics from their government. Canada needs a leader that works hard to unite people across the country, rather than divide them. Justin Trudeau is the only leader that has stepped up to the plate and offered a stronger, inclusive vision for Canada.”

Mr. McKay, as the Liberal Critic for the Environment, also took time to emphasize the Harper Government’s continued failure to address climate change.

“Time and time again, the Conservative Government has turned a blind eye to the environment and framed it as a barrier to our economic success” said Mr. McKay. “We need a leader that understands that Canadians don’t have to pick between a strong economy and a sustainable environment, the two should go hand-in-hand.”

Mr. McKay alsovisited Waterloo Energy Products and toured their model housing development.

“Canada has the potential to become a worldwide leader in green energy. Especially now, with falling oil prices, we should be leveraging the expertise of energy leaders from across the country to develop and grow these industries further. It’s something that could really bring people together” said Mr. McKay. “There is a diversity of economic expertise among Canada’s regions and by working together instead of dividing Canadians, we can create a strong, sustainable economy.”
